Priyansh Arya's Record-Breaking IPL Century
Priyansh Arya, born on January 18, 2001, in Delhi, is a dynamic left-handed opening batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. His cricket journey began at age seven, mentored by Sanjay Bharadwaj, known for coaching talents like Gautam Gambhir and Unmukt Chand.
Arya first captured attention by hitting six sixes in an over during a Delhi Premier League game, where he scored 120 runs off 50 balls. He was the leading run-scorer in the inaugural Delhi Premier League, amassing 608 runs in ten innings playing for South Delhi Superstarz.
In domestic cricket, Arya debuted in first-class cricket for Delhi in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, scoring a determined 71 against Tamil Nadu. He further showcased his talent in T20 cricket with a remarkable 102 off 46 balls against Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The Punjab Kings acquired Arya for INR 3.8 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. He debuted in the IPL on March 25, 2025, against Gujarat Titans, scoring 47 runs off 23 balls. On April 8, 2025, Arya achieved a milestone by scoring a century in just 39 balls against Chennai Super Kings. This was the second-fastest century by an Indian in IPL history and the joint-fourth fastest overall.
